All American Whiskey is run by a couple of wingnuts, but behind the crappy beard and the weird horn-hat, our CEO and our CCO are fairly accomplished in two interesting fields: Literature and Philosophy.
Piehole Willie has a degree in Existential Phenomenology that supports a masters in business from the University of Oxford’s (not the Ohio one) Saïd Business School.
The other one has been writing since forever and is currently a student of the University of Oxford (not the Mississippi one) Creative Writing program so stick that in your inkwell.
What I’m saying is, we’re into reading and we’re into writing so pull up a chair, buttercup.
In an effort to develop qualified writers for the growing niche market of whiskey journalism, we’re launching our Writers in Residence Program. The residence is your own, BTW. We’re not insane.
Step 1. You, an enterprising writer looking to score some sweet bylines, show your interest. You’ll submit samples of your writing, links to published work, and email them to our Chief Creative Officer, Editor, and Senior Writer, Bull “How do you spell ennui?” Garlington.
Step 2. We get to work with a room full of insanely talented writers who tear your work to pieces, pee on your resume, then make fun of your middle name. Then Garlington gets back to you. No idea how long this takes. It depends on if your email lands on a heavy “sampling” day.
Step 3. If your writing shows promise, we’ll talk. The idea of the program is to nurture emerging writers by giving them actual assignments. Writers will submit at least one story per month for three to six months. Garlington will work with you throughout the process, giving actionable advice, and tweaking your work until it is published at All American Whiskey under your byline.
