The Story
There is NO GOOD REASON to make jokes about the name of this dignified and well-established brand.
Established in 1896 with roots all the way back to 1830.
Original distillery built in 1856.
Produced under the medicinal rule during prohibition.
Plucked from obscurity and neglect then formed into a new brand in 2011.
Small batch sourced from few barrels kept on the 2nd and 5th floor of the rickhouse.
Whatever you do, don’t use the name of this whiskey in an inappropriate manner. It’s juvenile and puerile and immature and your dad would be really disappointed. If you hear some miscreant bastard misusing the name of this whiskey, please make a note and include it in the comments so we can keep a mature and level-headed list of infractions.
If you’ve never had this whiskey, please, please get some. Distiller Matti Antila has done a remarkable job recreating the original and just generally making a deeply smooth, delicious, surprisingly smooth whiskey.
